Back to reality...

Dear Church Family,

I am now back in the parish after a number of successful trips away to visit family and friends, as well as having some time on holiday with Alice and the children. We’ve travelled the length and breadth of England and Wales, journeying to Northumberland, Chichester Harbour, North Yorkshire, and Pembrokeshire. Whilst I recognise not all of you will have attempted the mileage us Smiths have managed this summer, I hope you have all managed to have some rest and time with loved ones if possible.

Smiths on Tour 2020

As we enter the new school term, my attentions are now focussing on establishing new patterns for worship, prayer, and pastoral support. I have already delivered my first live-streamed worship for the children at All Saints’ School and hoping we can find ways of connecting and supporting the school community that are useful and meaningful. Please pray for all of our children and their teachers over the coming months.

For those of you who have been at home for such a long time, I am hopeful that many of you will want to return to gathered worship over the coming weeks. Our pattern for worship has shifted again as we grow in confidence in dealing with social distancing in liturgical worship.

All Saints' is ready!

September’s service pattern looks like this:
Wednesdays: 9.30 am at All Saints’ for a spoken Prayer Book service of Holy Communion.
Sundays: 9.30 am at St Peter’s for Holy Communion. This service is also live streamed onto our Facebook page. facebook.com/huttonparish
11.15 am at All Saints for Holy Communion.

You are now welcome to attend on both Sundays and Wednesdays (but not at both Sunday services.) Please ensure you wear a mask and be ready to sign in and wash your hands as you arrive. You are welcome to sit with members of your own household.

We are also opening up St Peter’s to allow extra seating in the hall – this will mean we can safely sit over 50 people for services. There will be space for children to play at the back of the hall, although we cannot offer supervised sessions or toys at this time – please bring your own activities from home.

The Hutton Food Hub, which has been running from St Peter’s during the pandemic, has now been moved into the Coffee Lounge at the back of the church. This will allow us to use the hall once again, as we begin to welcome back some of the groups who rent the space each week. It also means that food can continue to be distributed from the side entrance of the church (at the hall end of the car-park) Monday to Saturday, 9.45 am-12 pm.

The Daily Bread Café will return on Tuesdays and on Fridays opening at 9 am until 1 pm from next week (8th and 11th September). This will just be for drinks and cake until we find our feet again! Social distancing and hygiene procedures will be in operation.

Please do get in touch If there is anything I, or the leadership team, can help with. I look forward to seeing some of you over the coming weeks.

With every blessing,
