Dear Sisters and Brothers,
A very happy summer season to you all - I do hope that you are well and that the hot weather is something you are able to enjoy rather than endure!
It's been a while since we put out a blog post but in order to improve both our comms and environmental impact, we hope to carry on with a small weekly update that includes the notice sheet into your inbox ahead of the Sunday service. Ideally, as many of you as possible will be happy to receive your pew sheet in this form and we can save on printing and paper costs/use in the coming months. Of course, we will still provide printed sheets for those in the parish who require them and rely on them being delivered to them each week.
Affirming Ministry
This last week has seen two of our own complete Dieceasan run courses and receive certificates from Bishop Guli in the cathedral. Congratulations go to Frances Annobil who has finished the 2 year Course in Christian Studies and to Sarah-Ann Robbshaw who has undertaken the first year of the Pastoral Carer's Training. Here they are, photographed in the cathedral, with our good friend Belinda Johnson from Langdon Hills.
We look forward to continuing to serve our Lord and this parish with you all in the coming years!
Sunday Morning:
This Sunday sees us return to the Sundays after Trinity in the lectionary cycle following our St Peter's Day services last weekend. Our readings for the 5th Sunday after Trinity are:
Collect Prayer:
Almighty and everlasting God,
by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified:
hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people,
that in their vocation and ministry
they may serve you in holiness and truth
to the glory of your name;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Post Communion Prayer:
Grant, O Lord, we beseech you,
that the course of this world may be so peaceably ordered by your governance,
that your Church may joyfully serve you in all godly quietness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

CEW - Sunday 16th July
Coming Closer to God: Finding a Spiritual Guide or Companion Many people value the companionship and encouragement of another person as they walk the spiritual way and find a listening ear helpful. Spiritual guides have been trained to do just that and to help you listen and discern how God is working in your life. If this is something you might be interested in please pick up one of the leaflets at the back of the church which will give you some information or speak to me in private if you are unsure. Chris Thomas LLM.
